Affected by the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine, the global automotive industry has also suffered significant impacts, such as delays in component supply leading to factory shutdowns and rising raw material prices. Many companies in the automotive and tire industries are gradually closing or transferring their operations in Ukraine, while adopting a more cautious wait-and-see attitude towards Russia.
Russian factory accounts for 80% of Nokian tire production
Although Russia is not a major tire country, there are still tire companies whose production is affected. Among them is the well-known tire company, Nuoji Tire, which stated that it is currently transferring some key product lines from Russia to Finland and the United States to cope with further sanctions that Russia may face.
According to China Tire Business Network, about 80% of Nuojis tires are produced in Russian factories, with an annual production capacity of 20 million tires in Russia. Currently, Novartis factory near St. Petersburg is operating at full capacity, while Novartis has started shipping tires out of Russia to warehouses closer to customers. The spokesperson stated that Novartis has been increasing production in Finland and the United States to meet the growing demand.
